Insurance & Billing : Frequently Asked Questions

Will My Insurance Cover Chiropractic Care?

Most insurance policies cover chiropractic care. In the state of Washington, all state-regulated health plans are required to include chiropractic care and allow direct access (no referral needed) for patients.

Auto Injuries are typically covered at 100% by your or the at-fault person’s auto insurance company. We accept auto accident liens if you are represented by a qualified attorney, and will wait for payment when your case settles. If you don’t have an attorney, we can provide you with a referral.

If you’ve been injured on the job, workers’ compensation insurance (Labor & Industries and self-insured employers) typically covers our services 100%.

These days, insurance coverage is very complicated, especially if you don’t know the right questions to ask your insurance company. To make things easier for you, we will contact your insurance company and let you know what your benefits and limitations are before you begin care. For a no-cost, no-obligation review of your benefits, give our office a call at 206-523-3855, text us, or email us.

What if I don’t have insurance or if my insurance company offers little, or no, chiropractic coverage?

If you have little or no coverage, you are not alone. If you pay on the day of care with cash, check, or credit/debit card, we have a lower, more affordable rate. After your examination and any necessary diagnostic tests, if it is determined that Dr. Folweiler can help you, we will tell you what is causing your problem, your options for treating it, how much treatment and care will cost, and what options you have to pay for the care.

At that time, you can decide if you want to proceed with care. If not, there is no obligation whatsoever. If Dr. Folweiler doesn’t think chiropractic care is the best form of care for you, he will refer you to others who may be to help.

Are you on my insurance companies list of preferred providers?

We are providers for all auto insurance companies, Labor & Industries, and all other Washington State on-the-job injuries. For injuries sustained in auto accidents or at work, you have the right to seek care from a chiropractor — no referral is needed. Dr. Folweiler is a treating (attending) physician for work-related injuries, a Chiropractic Consultant, and an Approved Examiner. This is particularly helpful for patients as he is qualified to rate permanent impairment (injuries that don’t fully heal). Many Western Washington doctors refer patients to Dr. Folweiler for consultations and impairment ratings.
